Flash Fiction! Something I’ve been avoiding!
Well not anymore! I’ve come to terms that to become a writer I need experience! To gain experience I need to try my hand at writing flash fiction. How can I contemplate writing a book if I’m scared to even write a few short stories? So I’m starting with a 6-word flash fiction!
It tells its own story!
“And so … The love story began!”
Many people overlook romance in the older years. I’m an avid believer that there is someone out there for everyone, even if it takes you years to find them.
I’ve been lucky enough to find mine. It took me kissing a few frogs, a failed marriage, another long term relationship and two kids to find my world. Since finding him we have another little one between us who fills our life with fun, joy and laughter. My Fiancรฉ, three children and I live a happy life that I’m very grateful for. Long after my children have left home, I look forward to spending time, the two of us together.
Please give me your thoughts! I would love feedback please from all you lovelyย people!
I love this. So unexpected, considering the picture, but that’s what being a writer is about! Nice.

Thank you so much! I wasn’t sure if I had grasped the concept of a 6 worded story but very glad you liked it.

Great photo and neat little story to go with it. I definitely think that people can find love, and no matter if it is towards the end. My own grandmother married when she was 80, ha ha. She lived to be 100, outliving her 2nd husband by about 7 years. Your life sounds wonderful and cozy. My youngest son left for college last year, and I miss him terribly. It was tough to get everything done when my kids were little, job, school, everyday life, but when it is all done, it is really a bit sad, but there is also more freedom and lots of wonderful memories.

Family time is the most important thing there is, and yes, it is never too late to find love (for those who are still looking).

A lovely and hopeful quote to go with a great picture. ๐
The real challenge is writing short fiction from just the picture in your head though. ๐
I’ll watch out for your future endeavors. ๐

The six-word story is the hardest challenge of all, because it conjures an image of its own. For instance, the most famous, which may or may not have been written by Hemingway, is, “For sale: baby shoes. Never worn.” I don’t think I’d want to see an image for that. Your story is a lovely one, but for what you envisioned, the picture is necessary to put it into context. I’m not saying it’s incorrect, it’s just not fully realized.
My shortest story is under 50 words, but I’ve never managed the six-word story.
By definition, flash fiction can be a few hundred words. Even shorter is the “drabble,” in which the author tries to keep the story at around 100 words.

I see exactly what you mean! So the words themselves have to do the explaining then … rather than the picture helping to tell the story!

Really like this. You got it. And it’s so nice that you found love again. Right now I’m not sure I want more love ๐

I would have chosen to spend more time apart but at 35 the time was ticking! Now at 41 …I’m very happy I made the leap!
