Rochelle Wisoff-Fields-Addicted to Purple hosts the flash fiction challenge called

Friday Fictioneers!

Take the challenge to write a piece of flash fiction in 100 words using the weekly picture prompt.

 

A single rose, lies amongst rotting debris, under the icicle encrusted tree.

Detective Ingram crouches by the yellow marker. poking the leaves with the end of his pen, held by a gloved hand. He leans away and wrinkles his nose.

Moving them aside, a ringed finger protrudes from the soil, where the cadaver spaniel alerted them to the corpse.

Ingram glances toward Officer Scott, as he announces,  “We’ve got a letter over here. What does this mean, sir?”

“There is a second victim that hasn’t been found yet. Somewhere there’s another body We are now looking for a serial killer!”
